Preschool Girl

I started preschool Monday-Wednesday-Friday on June 1. Look at me on my first day!

Mom and I have been meaning to blog about it but oh how time flies. Or maybe Mom was a bit lazy because there just weren't enough good things to write home about? I took things in stride and enjoyed my month at my first school with no complaints, but after the first couple weeks Mom became discouraged after seeing things at morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. We chose this school largely based on word-of-mouth in addition to the fact that it was also one of the more inexpensive preschools. LESSON LEARNED - always go with your gut no matter what other people say! The organized chaos of this school was for the most part very fun for a kid, had a great playground, and during the summer months the kids get to swim in the pool everyday. The downsides were that the classrooms were very small with lots of kids, the head teacher was very cold, the food offered was poor, and the chaos that seemed to be there everyday was more like open gym. So after a couple weeks Mom began to investigate once again what other options were.

So based on the recommendation by a couple friends accompanied with Mom and Nash spending an afternoon at the new school hanging out, asking many questions, and meeting the new teachers we were able to find a spot for me at my new school. The classroom is AMAZING and there are 30 kids ages 2 to 6 who spend the day together (versus my last school which was smaller and had separate classes with 30 3-yr-olds, 30 4-yr-olds, and 30 5-yr-olds). The teachers are all warm and friendly, the toys and learning tools are amazing (and are of course so organized, very Montessori-like) and the director has a real passion for nature and animals which I like. I started the new school on July 2 and so far so good.

And what's the icing on the cake? Fiona goes there too! Needless to say that made it an easy sell for me. Let's just hope that doesn't get us both in trouble because we can be very crazy girlie-girls when we get together!
