Ma ma ma

And my first word is......

Mom was thrilled and had been expecting it since I've been mmming for the past couple of weeks. Dad says next week we'll shoot for "Da da, rocks!"
The weather has been gorgeous here so Mom and I have been going to the park every day to play with leaves. I love to crinkle leaves in my hands and try to sneak a few into my mouth. I also like to crawl in the grass, though I tend to curl my legs and toes up when standing in the grass.

On Thursday mornings we've also been meeting a playgroup at the park with many mom's and kid's from around the block. We never knew there were so many young families so close and it's been really fun meeting them. I like to grab toys out of younger babies' hands. There is another baby there who is 2 months younger than I am and 10 lbs heavier than I am! He admired my sleek and slim ankles and feet which mom thought was pretty cute.

Food Fling

I do everything standing up these days. I hang onto cupboards, chairs, coffee table, couches, ottomans, and even my parents. My balance is getting better, and soon I'll probably be able to stand by myself.
I even read my bedtime stories standing up!I decided that I no longer like my parents to spoon feed me. I prefer to use my hands and spoons these days. As you'll see in the video, I'm pretty good with a spoon.

[Did you see how I can even bend the plastic spoon and fling food about 10 feet into the living room :)]

Dad was trying to cheer me up after I crashed on the kitchen floor so he made an "air gun" and shot over the container of diaper cream. It was really funny.

In the past week I also reached a milestone of understanding AND obeying the word, "NO". Now when I get into things like the laptop or electrical cords and someone says "NO" I turn around, crinkle my lower lip, and let out a very dramatic and sad cry. In the past, I would stop what I was doing if you said "no" but then I would turn around and continue doing whatever it was that I wasn't supposed to be doing. I guess that is a pretty big deal for my parents.

Backpacking the Boise Foothills

This morning my parents took me on a hike up "Bob's Trail" in my new backpack. Mom carried me for almost an entire hour! It is fun to play with Mom's hair and look over her shoulder. I can even take short naps too.We took a break along the trail and I found some rocks to play with. They tasted a little gritty compared to Cheerios.

Labor Day Weekend

My new favorite toy is Mom and Dad's laptop. I figure since they play with it so much, to must be pretty cool. I sneak my way over to the laptop whenever I can and since I'm so cute I don't even get into any trouble!
Everything about the laptop is cool - the cords, the keyboard, the bag....
Here I am bodysurfing on the laptop bag!

Can you believe I am 10 months old?
Over Labor Day Weekend we did a little shopping. I got a new bowl for munching my O's which I like to take everywhere.
Dad made me some organic, gourmet meals with the food processor. The peaches/plums were delicious, the sweet potatoes/OJ/cinnamon were just ho-hum, but the carrot/tomato/basil was definitely NOT my favorite!
