Busy Bees

Mom and Dad have been busy bees lately, but don't be fooled because they still find time to play. Who wouldn't want to play with me? I mean, who wouldn't want to play make-believe "car" where we pretend that we drive to Gramma and Grandpa's house, stop to get gas, stop at the Hampton, order take-out, etc. for hours and hours and hours....and hours! It's been a bit rainy here the past couple of weeks but at least we can make-believe a nice stroller ride.
Last weekend we even went to the zoo. It was a beautiful day and by far our best zoo visit yet. Mr. Nash was very interested in people watching for the first hour and then took a nice calm snooze while I rode the carousel, rode the giraffe slide, and played in the prairie dog caves.

Mr. Nash is quite the chow hound. On top of his regular breastmilk feedings he is now eating solids three times a day. At dinner time he puts away 2.5-3 jars of baby food because he's so hungry after not eating for a whole 2 hours since his post-naptime snack. And in other big news, it's been one week since experimenting with "quiet-time" vs. naptime. Over the past month I wasn't showing any signs of being tired until 3:00 and then I'd take a 1.5-2 hour nap which was too close to dinner and bedtime so I was bouncing off the walls near bedtime. Since Mom still needs her own quiet-time now I get to play quietly in my room while Nash takes his last nap and Mom naps on the couch. So far a win-win for everyone (fingers crossed) and although I can get a little droopy around 5:00 I do get re-charged after Dad comes downstairs and then am zonked by 8:00.

Budding Photographer

Santa brought me a camera for Christmas this year. It looks amazingly similar to Mom and Dad's old Olympus point and shoot... I can fire off about 190 photos in less than 24 hours!

One day Dad and I ventured outside to the trails to take some outdoor pictures. We ran into my friends from toddler care who share my love of photography. There's lots of pictures of the house that show just how crazy this place gets during the day, lots and lots of pictures of Mom and Dad holding Nash, and plenty of not-so-flattering pictures of Mom. Here is just a sample of my work.

Sisterly Love

Same age, same chair, he has a little bit less hair, he doesn't curl his toes like I did, he was a little less tippy for this photo shoot, but we're both cute as a button.

As I've mentioned before, I love my brother very much. As much as it irritates me that Mom and Dad can't play with me as much as they used to before, I can't imagine life without him and spend much of my day worrying about him. Like this week when we went to Momma's dentist appointment and the nice front-desk assistant held Nash while Mom had her teeth cleaned...well, I was immediately worried about Nash when she took him into the waiting area that I followed them just so I could make sure he was OK. He was. And on the way home I gave Mom a full report on how nice the lady was to Nash and exactly what she did with him.

And when we go to the park...well, I LOVE it when there are other kids to play with - especially girly-girls. But even when I'm playing with other kids I always make it a point to take a break from playing so that I can tell them that the little boy over there who's being carried by his Mommy is my baby brother and that his name is Nash.

Who wouldn't love a boy with such cute buns?During the day I help Momma take care of Nash. I am thrilled whenever I can be a big helper. Getting washcloths when he spits up, getting him toys, getting him fresh drool bibs, getting his washcloth and towel at bathtime, etc. So I was thrilled this weekend when Momma let me feed Nash. I think he was equally excited about it.

I can always make him laugh too.
