Preschool Graduation
Yesterday Reese's school had their annual spring program where they celebrated the class of 2014. The kids practiced their program for weeks and Reese was so excited for us to see it. Since it was a usual school day, Nash was at his school and was not able to join which made watching the program a bit more relaxing for Mom and Dad. We thought Reese would enjoy the extra attention as well, but in the end she was actually disappointed that her brother was not able to attend. It's so sweet to see her loving her ornery little bro so much these days!

The Paper Princess
With the exception of her baby Viv, Reese has never shown much interest for toys. But when it comes to art projects she could spend hours at the table. This is what she looks like, several times a day. Busy making creations out of the recycled paper from Daddy's office. She is quite resourceful with the paper projects too. When she wants something she'll ask us if we can buy it, and then when we say "someday..." she loses patience and heads off to the table and makes it out of paper, glue, tape, and scissors. After that we don't usually hear much about a need to purchase new things. Last week she made a piggy bank and I'm kicking myself for not have taken a photo of the 3-D tea kettle that she made a few weeks ago. Below is her camp scene with horses. These days there are lots of horses, including the 3-D horse below, which was the friend to the real pony that Daddy brought home from Baltimore after his work trip. So far the only downside to the paper projects is the emotional trauma if and when they are destroyed - either accidentally or intentionally - by ornery 2-yr old baby brothers.

Urban Adventure - Portland, OR
We've been wanting to go on vacation and do something different for some time now and since it's too expensive to fly anywhere we decided to go an an urban adventure, long-weekend road trip to Portland, OR. To shake things up, we rented a condo in the Pearl District in downtown which overlooks the Willamette River. We visited the zoo, OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry), ate lots of good food, and visited Mom's friend Lana and her family. Nash and I ate out like pros at restaurants well beyond our age which was fun for Mom and Dad. We were thrilled to take public transportation and actually grumbled when we had to take the car to the suburbs to have dinner at Lana's.
Who knew taking small children to the city could be so fun? Thanks for the adventure, beautiful Portland!
