Back from Hawaii

Well I just returned from vacation in Hawaii! I needed a break from my normal Boise routine, so I took my parents to Kailua Beach on the island of Oahu. We woke up very early last Saturday and took a long plane ride across the Pacific ocean. I was very good on the plane there and I didn't even cry but I was excited and didn't want to sit still or take many naps. I liked it best when we took walks up and down the aisles on the plane.

My Mom rented a place that was just 100 yards from the beach! We arrived around 1pm and we headed straight down to the beach to stretch our legs. Kailua Beach is my favorite beach. It's a private beach that is 2.5 miles long and has big enough waves to be fun, but not so big that they are too scary.
After the first day, Dad and I were jet lagged and hot so we took a nap after our beach adventure.
Our cabana pool.

Dad made sand castles every time we went to the beach and I had fun pushing them over and using my measuring cups to scoop sand into my yogurt container. One afternoon we came down to our beach and there was a black lab swimming through the water pulling a pug (named Peanut) and a beagle on a body board! The beagle and the pug would balance on the board and the lab was chasing a frisbee through the waves while pulling his friends.
We also met Boomer who came to visit me every morning along the beach. He would sit and let me pet him.One day we went to Sandy Beach. Sandy Beach is where the surfers go this time of year because the waves are over 15 feet high! We dipped our feet in the water but the signs on the beach said "No Swimming", so we decided to just build castles on the beach instead.
Later in the week we actually went sight seeing instead of going to the beach. The Byodo-In Temple is a replica of a temple in Japan. I saw a gigantic statue of Buddha and rang a large bell before entering the temple.
After visiting the temple we continued up the east coast of Oahu to Kahana Bay Beach. The waves were very gentle, so I explored on my hands and feet. I'm calling this Reese's beach.
I LOVED taking outdoor showers at our Cabana after our beach adventures. I am adding it to Daddy's to-do list for our Boise home.
On our last day, we checked out of our cabana and went up to the North Shore to watch the sunset before our 10pm red-eye flight back home.
I didn't want to leave so I sat in the suitcase at the airport and unpacked our carry-on bag.
Until next time!

Fall in Boise

My latest skill is pointing. I point at Da Da in the morning after my a.m. snack pack, I point at bushes along our walks, and I point at funny new people I see at restaurants. When I point at Mom and Dad they point back at me and say, "Right back at ya!" and I think that is very funny. Here I am showing Dad the way through the jungle gym.
A little post-park snuggle with Dad.
This week Dad was in MN for work and while he was away Mom let me watch my first Baby Einstein video while she did the dishes. It was AMAZING, I couldn't keep my eyes off of it.Here I am playing in the dining room. I love to crawl under the table and chairs. Sometimes my head gets stuck and Mom says I need whiskers so that I know when I can and can't fit through tight spaces.
On Sunday we went for a hike, not our best hike. While we were walking Dad reached for Mom's arm from behind to unhook a snag in her sleeve and it scared her and she jumped like crazy which scared the daylights out of ME! I was unhappy the rest of the way back to the car. Mom and Dad said it was okay and that I was allowed one bad hike from time to time. :)Since it is now Fall and we are having some rainy weather it was time to clean up the alphabet mat. I helped Mom wash, dry, and pack them away for next year.

A Rainy Day

Today was cold and rainy, so we stayed indoors and played. Dad played elevator with me it was really fun.

Later, I played hide-and-seek while Dad hid around the corner.

11 Months!

This week I had my 11-month birthday. I'm 30" tall now and weigh 19 pounds 1 ounce!. So, I'm already half of my Momma's height! My parents told me that I'm still in the 75% percentile for height and about 35% for weight. The only problem is that all of my pants are high waters now. I still only have my two bottom teeth, but sometimes my parents think I'm teething. My least favorite thing to do is get my teeth brushed. My favorite thing to do is spend time at the park. I take two naps per day, one at 10 am (30-60 min) and another at 1 pm (60-90 min), then I go to bed at 7 pm and sleep until 7:15 am. My parents don't even need to set an alarm clock in the morning.

Recently the weather has become colder, so it can get pretty cold and windy on the walk to the park.
When I go to the park, I play in the tunnels and Mom has to crawl in after me. I also like to hang onto the climbing wall and play with the wood chips. Sometimes I hide wood chips tightly in my hands to play with when I return home. Sometimes I stash them in my cheeks when mom isn't looking....
Some day I'll be able to climb to the top of this climbing wall.
These days I eat all by myself. For breakfast I eat a bowl of yogurt with "O's" cereal mixed in (to slow down my eating). For lunch or dinner my parents will sometimes cut up pieces of sweet potato and mix them in with some fancy baby food. For dessert sometimes I get chunks of mango, strawberries, or an entire banana (my favorite).I help my parents with chores too. I love to vacuum with mom in the backpack. I'm also a big help when it comes to folding the laundry. Look, 14 seconds flat!

Last weekend I also took my very first bike ride in my trailer. This was my first time wearing my new helmet. I rode for 1 hour and had a lot of fun. We stopped at the half way point and had snacks.
