Over the past month we bought a few more challenging chapter books for bedtime. We read them once or twice through and then she started reading them on her own, asking for help now and then by spelling the word to us and then continuing on. The books are for ages 6-10 and are just over 100 pages long. She insists on starting at Chapter 1 each time - in part because she can capitalize on her mad memory skills - so her pace starts out quite fast and usually slows down by Chapter 4. We told her to earmark the book so she doesn't have to start over each time and she defiantly said "no" and is determined to read it from start to finish. One of these days maybe she will?!

Reading and Writing
Reese has become quite the little bookworm these days with her reading and writing. We're going on a little road trip adventure to Portland in a few days and she drew a picture today at school that was quite impressive. Very excited for the trip! Nash is equally as excited and told his teachers today at school that he was "going to a hotel."

First Movie Date
Mom and Dad took off work this afternoon and snuck me out of school early for a special date. They didn't tell me what or where we were going and I was so excited for the big surprise. They took me to my first movie theater movie! We saw Rio 2. What a fun Friday treat for all three of us!

Two D'em
Recently we were looking back at the blog to see what Reese was like at Nash's age. We noticed that we had a detailed 2.5-year milestone post for Reese and it made us laugh because we sure don't have the time or energy to document Nash's childhood the way we did Reese's. On the milestone post we had listed some phrases that Reese said, the cutest of which was "I'm doin' like that" when she wanted us to watch her do something. It was the sweetest thing and I'm bummed we don't have her saying it on video. These days Nash is very eager to show off his skills and says "watch me Momma/Dada" more times than we can count.
No time for a milestone post, but we did capture one of Nash's latest phrases on video. It is his standard response for any of the following questions:
1) Do you want Cheerios or Raisin Bran? ....."Two D'em" meaning Raisin Bran topped with Cheerios.
2) Do you want oranges or apples? "Two D'em" Meaning both.
3) Do you want Lightning McQueen or Mac? "Two D'em" You get the picture....

Skillz Training
Daddy is a hard a$$....he made me do two laps without letting either tire go outside of the chalk lanes.... I found that I can bike a lap in 12 seconds, but running was much faster at only 7 seconds. However, Daddy said that running is for those lacking skillz.
