Playing Doggie

I found a new game to play with my brother, it's called "playing doggie." I am the owner and I drag a string around the house and Nash grabs on to the "leash" and follows me. I could play this game for hours and Nash is equally as interested in playing for about 10 minutes.

Taco Night

My brother made a huge mess tonight!  Nash loves taco night and he can't get enough rice and cheese (not to be confused with ham and cheese).  This may be his favorite food.
I think that he ate an entire avocado, which he later used to style his hair.

Daddy Camping

Daddy's friend Tim invited us to go "Daddy Camping" with him and his 6-year old daughter Abby on Friday night.  I had school on Friday, so it was difficult for me to take my afternoon "snooze" because I knew we would be leaving soon.  Daddy picked me up from school and we all headed up to Sagehen Reservoir.  The two hour drive seemed to take forever and I was starting to get tired and hungry.  Fortunately, Daddy brought snacks and drinks for the trip up.  I drank my entire 16 ounce water in about 5 minutes!  Two squat breaks later, we finally arrived at our camp site.  All of the regular camp sites were full, but we found this great site that was just off of the road and didn't have any neighbors.  We even had a little path that led down to the lake!

Once we arrived, Abby and I went straight to work making 'cakes' while Daddy and Tim set up camp and made dinner for their hungry daughters.
Tim brought a fishing pole for Abby, so he could teach her how to fish.  I thought it was funny that her fishing pole was called the "Ugly Stick".  Why would anyone find a pink fishing pole to be ugly?  I made my own fishing pole out of a stick and some old fishing line that I found along the shore.
Daddy let me stay up until 9 o'clock just like Abby.  We all roasted marshmallows on the fire and ate S'mores.  Yummy!    Despite all of the special treats that I ate 10 minutes before bed time, I slept great all night in my new pink and purple sleeping bag, and popped up at 6:30am as usual.
The next morning, I had so much fun on the beach with Abby making "yucky pies", "yucky cakes", and other yucky baked goods out of mud and seaweed.

Thank you Daddy for taking me camping with Tim and Abby!  Daddy says he has a new appreciation for helping his daughter go potty out in nature.  He also was amazed that I was able to cover myself head-to-toe in dirt or water in a matter of minutes resulting in about 4 outfit changes in 24 hours.  I love you Daddy!

It's Hot, Hot, Hot!

Makeshift water table....not to be confused with raccoon watering hole. ;-)

Preschool Girl

I started preschool Monday-Wednesday-Friday on June 1. Look at me on my first day!
Mom and I have been meaning to blog about it but oh how time flies. Or maybe Mom was a bit lazy because there just weren't enough good things to write home about? I took things in stride and enjoyed my month at my first school with no complaints, but after the first couple weeks Mom became discouraged after seeing things at morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. We chose this school largely based on word-of-mouth in addition to the fact that it was also one of the more inexpensive preschools. LESSON LEARNED - always go with your gut no matter what other people say! The organized chaos of this school was for the most part very fun for a kid, had a great playground, and during the summer months the kids get to swim in the pool everyday. The downsides were that the classrooms were very small with lots of kids, the head teacher was very cold, the food offered was poor, and the chaos that seemed to be there everyday was more like open gym. So after a couple weeks Mom began to investigate once again what other options were.

So based on the recommendation by a couple friends accompanied with Mom and Nash spending an afternoon at the new school hanging out, asking many questions, and meeting the new teachers we were able to find a spot for me at my new school. The classroom is AMAZING and there are 30 kids ages 2 to 6 who spend the day together (versus my last school which was smaller and had separate classes with 30 3-yr-olds, 30 4-yr-olds, and 30 5-yr-olds). The teachers are all warm and friendly, the toys and learning tools are amazing (and are of course so organized, very Montessori-like) and the director has a real passion for nature and animals which I like. I started the new school on July 2 and so far so good.

And what's the icing on the cake? Fiona goes there too! Needless to say that made it an easy sell for me. Let's just hope that doesn't get us both in trouble because we can be very crazy girlie-girls when we get together!

Back to the River Beach

Daddy had the day off today for the 4th of July so we took a mid-week break and took Mr. Nash on his first trip to the Payette River beach. Nash and I "snoozed" on the ride up and we had a wonderful afternoon playing in the sand and water and eating snacks. I remember visiting this beach for the first time when I was only 9-months-old and now I'm so excited to share it with my brother. I guess you could say that Nash had already been there last year when he was in Momma's belly, but this time was much more fun - especially for Momma!

Check out this next picture and then check out how high the river was last year at the very same time -  this is the same stump I was standing on last year!
