The swings, not so much. But the Slide...
The slide he loves! And he does it with style - feet first on his tummy.

Daddy's Big Helpers
Tonight after dinner we went out in the backyard to play in the sand table. Before we knew it, Daddy was poking around and doing yard work so I was thrilled to assist him with garden tools. Nash saw us working and decided that he wanted to help too so he bear crawled over to the basket and started to put dead leaves into it as well. It's a good thing that Daddy has TWO big helpers 'cause there's lots to be done in our new yard!

Mr. Nash's 12-Month Milestones
Height: 30.5" (73% percentile)
Weight: 24 pounds 2 ounces (69% percentile)
Head: 47 cm (68% percentile)
Teeth: 4 bottom teeth, 4 top teeth and left upper molar starting to poke through
What He Eats:
Walking: Walks holding parents fingers, and can stand for a second without holding on. Cruises all furniture and pulls up very well (and eases down). Climbs stairs and just beginning to crawl down stairs (backwards).
Personality: Nash is a very sweet boy and loves his Mom, Dad, and Big Sister. He continues to be fairly noise sensitive and gets startled easily with new sounds. He loves to roughhouse and crawl on top of his parents/sister. He is very curious and is into EVERYTHING these days - with special attention to anything plugged into the wall. He is also very interested in doing what everyone else is doing and will mimic things like hair brushing, etc. Reese calls him "The Destroyer" since he likes to wreck anything that she is playing with. If anyone goes outside without him he gets VERY upset until you let him outside too.
Miscellaneous things that he does:

Head: 47 cm (68% percentile)

What He Eats:
- Breakfast: 6 oz yogurt with baby oatmeal mixed in. Miss Reese used to eat her own yogurt with a spoon, but Mr. Nash is messy so fortunately he still lets Mom or Dad spoon feed him.
- Lunch: 1/2 slice of whole wheat bread pieces, string cheese & fruit
- Dinner: Eats what parents are eating, but cut into smaller pieces.
- LOVES watermelon.
- Although Nash will let Mom and Dad feed him breakfast, he is adamant about feeding himself the rest of the day. He uses both hands and alternates handfuls of food and makes a huge mess at every meal.

Miscellaneous things that he does:
- Says Ma-ma, Da-da, and "ba" (ball). Very "talkative".
- Points at everything.
- Just like his sister, Nash has a very healthy appetite with quantity and spice, but when he's full he's full, and he quickly starts throwing the rest of the food on the floor.
- Loves to be outside. Especially loves to play in the sand table. At the park he can climbs the dinosaur steps, crawls through the plastic pipes, but mostly he enjoys playing with - and attempting to eat - wood chips.
- He's a head banger. LOVES music and bops his head to it.
- Is interested in duplos and at times very determined to put them together although they are probably out of his fine motor skill capacity. Less interested in the mega blocks which are more age appropriate.
- We really have not been very successful reading books to Nash because he only wants to chew on the books or open the pages violently or bang the book on the floor. He's a caveman. Have read a few very short books with animal noises and he gets a kick out of that, but that is about it.
- Loves bath time. Likes to fill big cups with water and drink the bath water.
- Still nurses 4 times per day but starting to wean to twice per day in anticipation of toddler school next month.
- Puts everything in his mouth. Everything. When he gets frustrated he'll even bite your arms/legs.

Family Time in McCall and Boise
We met Steve, Janelle, Calleigh, Luke, Gramma & Grandpa Herren in Idaho for our annual early August reunion. First we met them in McCall for a little mountain getaway. The weather was gorgeous and everyone had a wonderful time playing on the beach. Then we came back to our place for a few more days and showed the Boston crew our new house. We had more water time of course - you can't keep cousins Calleigh and Luke out of water (lakes, ponds, water parks, canals, fountains, etc.)! Gramma and Grandpa babysat Mr. Nash one day and I even got to go with the big kids to the local water park where I had an amazing time floating the lazy river. I had so much fun playing with my family, especially the kids. My favorite memories include making "uddi pies" with Luke in the sand table, having slumber parties and "sleeping in" with Calleigh and Luke, and of course being Calleigh's shadow. At times my inner struggle to be an 11-year-old girl got the best of me because I can't quite keep up just yet, but as I mentioned several times, it's only "because I love her."
Go Momma, Go!
Momma competed in her very first triathlon the last weekend of July. The Burley Spudman Triathlon is an Olympic distance event (1500 m swim, 24.8 mi bike, 6.2 mi run). We drove over to the little town of Burley, ID on Friday afternoon and stayed with the family of a friend which turned out to be it's own endurance event alone - Nash and I both slept HORRIBLE and Mom and Dad got around 3-4 hours of sleep the night before Mom's big day. Fortunately we were such wonderful cheerleaders that Mom still rocked it (24:00 swim; 1:17:47 bike; 56:56 run). Mom said that even with all the commotion and cheering at the finish line, she could still hear my little, sweet voice yelling "Go Momma, Go!"
